When you are disabled, however, it may be more difficult to purchase a home. The good news is that there are grants for disabled people that will help you buy a home.

Habitat For Humanity – This organization helps provide disabled people with grants to buy a home, as well as provides people with the home itself. To qualify for assistance from the group, you have to demonstrate that you need safe affordable housing and you have to help with the building process. Being disabled you may have difficulty helping with the building of the home, but there are some ways you may be able to assist in the development of it. Plus, you can likely get friends and family to help on your behalf, so it’s worth applying for the grant to see if you qualify.

Homes for Our Troops – Disabled veterans who would like help buying a home may qualify for assistance through this organization. Their mission is to help veterans who were disabled during 9/11. They help a wide variety of people who are disabled to buy homes, by providing them with grants to do so. Those who qualify for the grants are provided with a newly constructed home that has been adapted to help the disabled person live more independently and comfortably. Many local organizations provide grants to help those in need, including those that can be used to help purchase a home. Check with your local housing authority, churches, and nonprofit organizations. They will either offer grant programs that can help, or they will be able to point you in the right direction to local options that can assist you with buying a home.
